Tony Walker
Tony Walker’s writing career began when he was asked to contribute a section on WWII US Army insignia by a book editor, who was planning a book titled Military Collectibles.
When the publisher’s cheque arrived, he immediately went out and bought himself a new Colt Government Model 1911 .45 Auto pistol… and was hooked!
He later began contributing articles to various shooting magazines, and his work has appeared in magazines in the USA, UK, Australia and South Africa.
When he and his wife moved to Arizona in 1993, he managed a gun shop and shooting range there, and taught the gentle arts of gunfighting.
This resulted in him writing his book How to Win a Gunfight.
His fiction writing career began on a flight from Phoenix to Las Vegas. Picking up a novel at the airport, he hadn’t read more than a dozen pages when he found that the well-known author, who should have known better, had his main character “nervously flicking the Glock’s safety on and off”.
As any shooter would know, and any serious writer would be able to find out in less than a minute from the web, Glock pistols don’t have an external safety to switch on and off.
Dumping the book in the seat pouch with the sick bags and in-flight magazines, he decided to write his own action thriller.
Months later, Pilgrim’s Traitor was published, and introduced ex-SAS corporal John Pilgrim to the world.
Today, Tony’s firearms instruction manuals as well as his fiction novels are held in high-regard by warriors everywhere!
