Imagine this scenario…
You’re a father and your son works with you in your shop.
You’ve worked hard to get where you are and you’re proud that your grown boy is helping you.
You’re standing there, maybe sweeping up, when two armed thugs walk in and demand your wallet.
But that’s not enough.
They aren’t satisfied yet…
You know they’re going to take everything you have and then probably march you into the back to put a bullet in your head.
Realizing it’s you or them, you go for the gun you keep hidden behind the counter.
But that’s when that high-speed, low-drag trick you learned from the Internet gets you shot.
Sound like a nightmare?
Well, that’s EXACTLY what happened to a father and son in Bakersfield, California.
Condition Three: Why “Israeli Carry” Will Get You Killed In A Gunfight
The horrifying “snuff film” video plays out with the date and time stamped over it.
It was recorded in a Bakersfield, California shop when two armed thugs entered and demanded the owner hand over his money.
(They played the video at the murderers’ trial.)
When the thugs want more money, the father realizes they aren’t going to stop.
He moves off camera…
…and when he comes back, he’s struggling to rack the slide and chamber a round.
He’s been keeping a hidden gun kept in “Code 3” — what we call “Israeli Carry,” with a loaded magazine but no round in the chamber.
It’s the last gun mistake the Internet will ever teach him.
Both he and his son died in a hail of bullets as debris from the walls explodes like something out of John Wick.
But it didn’t have to happen!
Here are three lessons we can take away from this senseless tragedy about “Israeli Carry.”
1. Always Carry With A Round In The Chamber
The first lesson is the most obvious: you have got to carry with a round in the chamber.
Racking the slide is a movement that takes precious seconds — seconds you DON’T have when somebody is about to start shooting at you.
Worse, when you rack the slide, no matter how hard you try to keep that gun on target, you’re not going to be able to do it.
That means you’ll have to acquire the target after you’ve chambered the round, wasting even MORE time.
For your gun to be of any use to you, it absolutely has to be ready to go the moment you bring it up into your eye-line.
If you’re not comfortable carrying with a round chambered in that gun, then you should be carrying a different gun (like a revolver).
2. Carry Your Gun ON YOUR BODY
The other BIG problem that is obvious when you watch that courtroom video is that the attackers had all the time in the world to shoot that man and his son.
The reason? The shop owner first had to go retrieve his weapon from where it was hiding.
If he was worried enough to keep a loaded gun in the shop, he should also have realized he might be nowhere near that gun when trouble came calling.
I’ve said time and time again that you’ve got to be prepared to fight to your weapon…
…but why do that if you don’t have to?
To save time and to keep your gun close by when a threat appears, carry your gun on your body, even when you’re home.
That way, you’ll be better prepared for any threat that comes knocking down your door.
3. Don’t Let Them Catch You Unaware
I don’t want it to sound like I’m criticizing this poor shop owner.
He was an armed citizen just trying to save himself and his son.
But the fact that the armed robbers just walked in and demanded his wallet tells you he was walking around oblivious while in the shop.
(He was indoors, on his “home turf,” so he was safe, he probably thought.)
Because he let his guard down completely, he was caught flat-footed when the armed robbers walked into the store.
Instead, he should have stayed alert and aware to possible threats, especially because the store was open to the public and to foot traffic.
Too many gun owners think just buying a gun, and keeping it nearby, is enough.
As we’ve just learned, that’s not even CLOSE to true.
There is a LOT of training you’ve got to get to be prepared for a REAL gunfight… and there are specific principles for close-quarters gunfighting that can save your life if you follow them.
If you aren’t learning and training these principles, you could end up on the floor, holding a useless gun, while you bleed out.
I know, I know: It sounds like there’s a lot to learn.
That’s because there is.
If you want to dig deeper on how I train for real attacks, you might want to check out this report.
Just be warned…
This program is going to make a LOT of people mad.
I don’t go along with the “conventional wisdom” when it comes to training with firearms.
A lot of what I teach is the OPPOSITE of what you’ve learned before.
(For example, one of the things I learned in our stopping power analysis of over 6,000 real-world gunfights is that the #1 survivability factor is getting behind effective cover to stop any bullets headed your way.)
Just keep an open mind… and be willing to try something completely new in how you prepare for the reality of a street attack.
That’s all I want — that, and for you to survive when some murdering thug draws down on YOU.
