Jay Lewis of West Des Moines, Iowa is just about everything that comes to mind when you think of a responsible, armed citizen.
He’s a former police officer who likes hunting, collecting firearms and holds a concealed carry permit.
However, one fateful encounter in the usually “sleepy” city of West Des Moines turned Jay’s life upside down.
Lewis’ story is a cautionary tale… one every gun owner in America needs to hear so they can avoid falling into the same nightmare simply for exercising their Second Amendment rights!
The 9-1-1 Call That Left This Former Police Officer Jailed And HOMELESS!
It came out of nowhere!
Jay was driving home from his job with the IRS late one night when he passed a slow-moving car filled with 5 party goers on their way back from a Halloween shindig.
When he passed the car, the driver became aggressive, speeding up, racing him down the street and trying to block his path.
So Lewis tried turning off the road to get away… but the enraged maniac rammed right into his car!
Being a responsible citizen, Jay pulled his car over and…
things got heated when the driver and his passengers tried to blame the incident on Jay!
They piled out of the car, punching his windows, demanding that he get out and face them, heaping him with verbal abuse and even throwing racial slurs at him.
Their attitudes changed, however, when Lewis produced his .380 pistol.
Upon seeing that he was armed, his attackers had a quick attitude adjustment and backed off toward their car.
Lewis thought it was safe to get out and examine the damage to his car while he called the police…
…but he was wrong!
Two men ambushed Lewis from both sides, reigning blows down on him for the “crime” of getting out of his car.

It was caught on tape!
Lewis was clearly not a a bloodthirsty vigilante out to “shoot some punks.”
He was just a guy who was trying to get home.
In fact, if you listen to the 9-1-1 tape you’ll hear a man who is polite, cooperative and respectful with law enforcement.
On the recording you can hear Lewis offering stern but measured warnings to his attackers… not by firing a shot in the air, but with his words!
Sadly for everyone involved, the thugs didn’t heed his warnings to “get back, get back!” or “get away from me, get away from me!”
Lewis was forced to fire his weapon in self-defense and… one shot connected injuring one of his attackers.
He had protected himself from violent criminals… but the worst was yet to come!
When the police showed up Lewis was the one who was arrested, charged with “intimidation with a dangerous weapon” and being “armed with intent.”
This would be bad enough, but sadly… Lewis’ troubles did not end here… not by a long shot.

Jay Lewis was a humble civil servant working for the IRS.
His salary was a “princely” $32,359 per year… so coming up with $225,000 in cash for bail money was a little outside of his means.
This meant that poor Jay had to stay in a jail cell until his court date… over 3 months later.
As bad as this was… it was only the beginning of the absolute nightmare this poor man was forced to endure for the “crime” of protecting himself.
His landlord threw him out of his apartment because he was “dangerous” for defending himself against two criminal thugs with a firearm.
No one was there to retrieve his belongings when he was evicted so they were simply tossed to the curb.
Street people helped themselves to everything Jay Lewis owned… his clothes… his furniture… his appliances… while he was languishing in jail waiting for his “day in court.”
When he finally emerged from jail 112 days later he wasn’t just homeless, he was also unemployed because the IRS let him go.
Now I don’t know about you, but this story absolutely makes my blood boil.
Lewis did everything right, was acquitted and the jury said they felt charges shouldn’t even have been brought.
None of that mattered.
What did matter for Jay Lewis and does matter for you is that power-hungry prosecutors will use the flimsiest of premises to hang a case on.

It’s a sad and unfortunate truth…
Many DAs care less about “justice” in cases like these than they do about “getting their numbers up.”
This is especially true if your local DA is vehemently opposed to the Second Amendment and the right to self-defense or you live in a state without robust “Stand Your Ground” laws to protect armed citizens who exercise their Constitutional rights against violent thugs.
No matter where you might live… you need to stand on the firmest legal footing possible and unfortunately…
…most gun owners know way more about their “Constitutional rights” than they do their legal responsibilities!

Don’t end up like Jay Lewis… he was homeless, unemployed and destitute even though a jury ultimately found him not guilty.
That was totally wrong, what those guys did to Jay. He was minding his own business and that’s what he got for it. It seems to be becoming the “norm” nowadays. Scary!
I sincerely hope he got his life back together.
That’s why I want to go underground and off the grid. I don’t want to be part of this mess going on in the world. It’s getting dangerous and I’m a 70 yr. old woman.
Honey I feel the same way as you! I want to get out of this insane society and live offgrid too. I’m going to be 58 years old and my husband is 72 years old. This was just wrong. I sure hope that this guy got his life back and is doing well. I can only just imagine what those idiots would have done to him if he didn’t have a gun. I guess those idiots got off scott free too. Bet they all had a criminal record too. They all belong in prison. We decent people who believe in justice and living right need to stick together and make positive changes in this society. But unfortunately I don’t see that happening. The evil satanists have taken over and chaos is the norm nowadays. I just think it’s a matter of time before America falls anyway. These evil powers that shouldn’t be are hell bent on putting America on that digital currency. Once that happens it will be over and our rights and freedoms will be gone. I’m very concerned much more so than my husband is. He believes that our second amendment will save the country because he says that too many Americans have guns and most Americans have more than one gun in their possession and home. Me and my husband don’t own any guns but I’m reconsidering because we decent law abiding citizens have the right to protect ourselves against idiot thugs like those that attacked that poor guy. We the people have to take a stand and keep fighting for our beautiful country. Because if we don’t this lawlessness and chaos is going to collapse our country. I sure hope that my husband is right about our second amendment helping us save our country. I try to think positive but it’s hard in this insane society nowadays.
Solzenitzen lived thru the Bolshevik Revolution. It looks like the same is about to happen here. He wrote in his book that when the thugs came the first time, it was for their guns. The second time they were taken to camps. While in the camps they all lamented that they should have done something the first time, like beat them with a hot poker, or throw them down the stairs. They figured that if some of the thugs didn’t get to go home that night, that word might have gotten around to the rest of the Bolsheviks, and maybe their whole plan would not have happened. So, all you old farts in your seventies, like me, give them hell with everything you got, because you aren’t gonna live forever.
Take as many of them with you as you can. First of all, if you get a knock on the door, don’t answer it. Sit in a chair with your shotgun facing the door. IF they don’t go away, and break down the door, aim for the face !!!
The prosecuting attorneys in cases like this need to experience a little humility. Publish their names and all the rest. They need to be publicly humiliated and exposed for the anti-justice filth that they are. I’m 75 and like the T-shirt says, “Don’t mess with elderly folks. Life in prison just doesn’t have the same degree of intimidation.” That and a yard sign arriving on their lawns, saying, “Thugs welcome and protected HERE.” Far too many prosecutors are not interested in justice, they are concerned with ‘winning’ and looking ‘politically correct.’ O m’gosh ! Maybe I’m a thought criminal ! Is Big Brother gonna get me ?
Thomas I totally agree with you! These criminal prosecutors are nothing but criminals themselves just like the idiot thugs they protect. Don’t worry about big brother, you are exercising your freedom of speech. So far America is still a free country!
