Dennis Martin started training in Karate in 1965 and later took his skill set to the doors of Liverpool nightclubs and at the side of prestigious clients as a bodyguard, leading to a further career in the field of VIP Protection.

Building a reputation quickly, Dennis worked as a team leader and operator on VIP protection tasks for several Royal families and Diplomatic entities and in 1985, he expanded his influence and training by forming CQB Services, the first ever commercial close-protection training course in the UK, training bodyguards from Europe, Australia, USA and Africa.

Based on the methods taught to the bodyguards, Dennis started teaching Close Quarter Battle [CQB] techniques to everyone from US Military Special Response Teams, police officers, and SWAT team members to civilian personnel.

In addition to his formal combatives training, Dennis set out to analyze the self-protection shortcomings of his traditional martial arts training and developed an efficient, practical curriculum of Combatives based on his experience on Liverpool nightclub doors and has been called "the most credible instructor of real self-defence in the world today".

Dennis currently acts as a technical advisor to the International Association of Personal Protection Agents and is a member of the International Association of Law enforcement Firearms Instructors.
