I think we can all agree that disaster, in some form or another, is imminent.
And with disaster… comes violence!
And I’m not just talking about the threat of looters, gang members, or other “wolves” looking to prey on the helpless.
It could just as easily be your fellow citizens who are willing to fight for their own family’s survival if food, water, gasoline are gone or in life-threatening demand.
What’s your plan for protecting yourself and those you love during desperate times?
Personally, I have a number of firearms for defending my family… but different weapons play a different role.
For example, you wouldn’t want to bug out-with an AR-15 slung in front of you while treking to your designated “Plan B” retreat.
Too obvious that you’re “prepared” and will make you a target.
Could This Be The Best Survival Weapons
Firearm Caliber For Your “Collapse Arsenal”?
I know everyone has their own opinion, but I personally have a Ruger 10-22 Takedown model that comes apart like some 007 spy rifle and fits easily in my bug-out bag where it can’t be seen.
Ok, I know what you’re thinking…
Is a .22 really the ideal caliber for a survival firearm?
Yes and no…
Sure, it isn’t known as a “man-stopper” round, but it HAS been said that more people are killed by the .22 than any other caliber.
Regardless, it’s certainly a deadly round with proper shot placement and will still soil the shorts of anyone the barrel is pointed (and slow down anyone it hits or make them give up the fight).
But there are other reasons why the .22 makes it into my personal survival weapons arsenal. In fact, if I could get only one type of ammo, it would be .22 and here’s why…
Why The .22 Is The Best Survival Weapon Caliber…
Noise Discipline
The .22 is a much quieter round than others. In a collapse environment, the less noise you can make, the less attention you could attract from looters, police, or hungry townsfolk coming to see if you’ve killed any game you could be “convinced” into sharing.
Weight Discipline
.22 is lighter and easier to transport. When bugging out, you’ll thank yourself. 1,000 rounds of .22 is much easier to haul than 1,000 rounds of .45 or .223
Expense
.22 is less expensive than other types of ammo, making it a cost-effective means for stockpiling ammo and for training. Plus, you can get a Ruger 10-22 for under $200 to inexpensively arm other family or survival team members.
Bartering
Hopefully, we’ll never be forced to barter with ammunition. But if it comes to that, .22 will be worth more than the money in that bank account of yours. (You know… the one that the government froze to avoid a run on the banks.)
