Bram Frank
Bram Frank is known worldwide for his contributions in improving edged weapon tactics, including his design of tactical folding knives and less-lethal control tools like the Close Range Medium Impact Tool.
The founder and director of Common Sense Self-Defense/Street Combat, grandmaster Bram Frank is an 8th Dan in Modern Arnis, a 5th Dan in Arnis Maharlikha, and has nearly fifty years of martial arts training altogether.
He holds patents for multiple tactical folding knives, including the Round Eye Knife and Tool Escalator, the Spyderco Gunting, Drone, and CRMIPT, and the Lapu Lapu Corto from Cherusker Messer (as well as several other knives by that German knife company), and various fixed blades for Ontario and Linton knives.
A true innovator, Bram holds a utility patent for his unique kinetic-opening tactical knives, not to mention his puzzle lock for folding knives and his indexing-grip changing fixed blade design.
Bram has also attracted quite a crowd of combatives followers over the course of his career, doing a variety of self-defense instructional videos through companies like Paladin Press and Video Quest, and he's been featured in publications ranging from SWAT, Guns and Ammo, Police Journal, Tae Kwon Do & Korean Combative Arts, Filipino Martial Arts, and Tactical Knives.
But it's Bram's bladework that has earned him a seat at the top of the combatives world as he's been featured as a blade instructor at the annual FMA Festival in the Philippines several times and was even a tactical knife instructor at the 26th Soldier of Fortune Convention in 2000, and was the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame “Instructor of the Year” for Arnis in the mid nineties.
He’s also served as a liaison for Randall Fighting Knives, was a Florida Black Belt Hall of Fame Master Instructor of the Year, won a Silver Lifetime Achievement Award from the Karate Voice Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and still travels the world teaching and selling his unique line of folding knives and fixed blades.
