Own The Night: 5 Reasons Every Prepared Warrior NEEDS Night Vision Capability (Like Now!)

“He who owns the night owns the battlefield.”

This military maxim isn’t just for soldiers…

… it’s the difference between being the hunter or “the hunted”.

Before, during, and after any disaster scenario – where law and order crumbles and resources become scarce – predators of all kinds are banking on you NOT being alert and prepared.

This is where the “Warrior-Ready” need to think high-tech because…

Criminals, Looters, And Our Own Government Are Praying You Never Learn The Truth About “Night-Vision Capability!

Here Are 5 No B.S. Reasons Why Every Prepared Citizen Should “Own The Night” NOW

Night Vision For Preppers

1. Denying Four-Legged Predators From Raiding Your Stash

If you have a homestead with a garden and/or livestock (even chickens and rabbits), then you already know this…

In many American states, nighttime predators (like hogs and coyotes) are a real problem.

They cause billions of dollars’ worth of property and livestock damage for farmers and rural communities…

And the ONLY way to effectively hunt these predators is during the night…

That’s why over 80% of states allow night hunting — and it’s essential to have night vision to get the job done.

2. Nighttime Stealth Hunting!

In any SHTF scenario, the number one resource that will be the scarcest to find is food for you and your family.

When the grocery store shelves are empty and resupply is hanging on a wish and a prayer, here’s what happens…

… wild game quickly becomes the go-to “protein source”.

But there’s a problem most preppers never consider…

As hordes of inexperienced hunters flood the woods, the wildlife adapts.

Fast.

Those animals undergo an overnight reprogramming of their behaviors and instinctively shift to nocturnal patterns to avoid human threats.

Without night vision, you’re stuck competing with every other hungry person during the same 8-10 hour daylight window.

But with this secret edge that most lack, you gain exclusive access to the other 14-16 hours when animals are actually moving and feeding.

With night vision capability, you’re literally hunting in a different world than everyone else.

3. When Predators Take Control

I always had a 9pm curfew for my older kids because, as a parent, we all know that “nothing good happens out on the streets after 9pm”, right?

FBI statistics back this up — violent crime spikes after dark.

This hard data isn’t random — it’s biological.

Even under “normal” societal conditions, predators instinctively know that darkness provides the tactical advantage, allowing them to get close to you and your property with less risk in being detected.

It gets even worse during a crisis…

When civil unrest kicks off or the power grid fails, street lights disappear.

Neighborhoods transform into “hunting grounds”.

That friendly suburban landscape you navigate daily becomes a whole other world – and requires you to spot signs of danger as soon and as far away as possible.

Unfortunately, your eyes physically need about half an hour to fully adapt to darkness.

Night vision devices, on the other hand, give you instant visibility on potential threats making their move on you.

4. Ghost Movement: Surviving When EVERYONE Is Looking

Picture this scenario:

You need to move your family through ten blocks of powerless urban landscape after a blackout and the streets can no longer be considered safe.

You’ve got two options…

… travel during daylight when everyone can spot you from a mile away…

… or move at night when you blend into the shadows.

The choice seems obvious until you consider the limitations of your natural night vision and the drawbacks of using a flashlight to guide your way.

In darkness, a flashlight’s beam is basically sending up a flare announcing “Hey! We’re over here with stuff worth taking!”

You’re just painting a target on your and your family’s backs.

This is where military tactics come into play…

There’s a reason elite units don’t schedule their operations during convenient daylight hours.

We understand that “light discipline” isn’t just some cool tactical buzzword… it’s critical for your very survival!

Like having a one-way mirror into danger zones, you can…

check your property perimeter without broadcasting your presence…

spot potential trouble spots before stumbling into them, threatening your mobility with a twisted ankle or other injury from falling…

… and gain the ability to choose whether to engage a threat or avoid it entirely, rather than having that choice made for you by someone who spotted you first.

5. Beat The Government Ban

What happens when the tools you need to survive aren’t just expensive — they’re illegal?!

More and more, we’re seeing a coordinated effort underway to make sure you can’t see in the dark, and most Americans have no idea it’s happening.

Several states have already drafted legislation to ban civilian ownership of night vision devices, with more lawmakers quietly preparing similar bills.

This isn’t conspiracy theory territory—it’s already happening.

Take a look at this headline from HuffPost…

News - Night Vision Ban

This push to restrict night vision has nothing to do with public safety.

It’s about having control of the technology – to keep it out of the hands of foreign enemies… and potential “enemies of the state.

The same people who want to take this technology out of your hands are the ones who understand exactly how powerful it is.

The justifications always follow the same playbook: …

… focus on potential criminal applications while conveniently ignoring the legitimate uses for law-abiding citizens.

Whether it’s home defense, hunting for food in a crisis, or simply being prepared for extended power outages, these benefits get brushed aside in the rush to regulate.

Once these bans take effect, the secondary market will do what it always does — prices will explode beyond what average Americans can afford, just as we’ve seen this exact pattern play out with certain firearms and accessories.

One day they’re accessible… the next day they’re either too damn expensive or just plain GONE!

You DON’T Have To Spend A Fortune To Locate And Identify The Hidden Threats Lurking In The Darkness!

Here Are Your Night Vision Options For “Owning The Night” On Any Budget…

As much as I see night-vision devices as a critical part of a home defense plan, the reality is that these high-speed optics can be insanely expensive.

For example, a “military-grade” device from AGM can run you as much as $2,500 (and that’s the super low end of the pricing for high-quality NODs).

Most civilians of course don’t need this level of gear, unless you have uses for them outside of a “survival” scenario…

If you can see the value in using them for everyday purposes such as spotting animal predators on your property that could threaten your pets, livestock, chickens, etc., then I would suggest a “medium-grade” night vision device like the “Swift” NVGs I purchased from NightFox for about $150 and I keep these in my vehicle at all times.

They’re part aluminum and part polymer – so I wouldn’t classify them as “military-grade”, but they’re really quite durable and affordable if you’re really going to use them.

However… if you DON’T have an “everyday use” for night vision, I wouldn’t even suggest spending that much…

I DO still suggest you add some level of these to your gear plan, but you can save a TON with a set of “budget NVGs” like USS Tactical’s “Dark Force” Night Vision Binoculars…

Now, I’ll tell you right now that, like anything else… “you get what you pay for” – so these aren’t going to be the high-speed optics that military and law enforcement use.

When you hold them, they feel “cheap” and the screen isn’t optimized for using them while you’re driving with your vehicle’s lights off or for going hands-free with them strapped to your head.

And they’re not technically “night vision” that amplifies the light in your surroundings like we had in the military – instead they use infrared technology to pick up heat signatures and relay that back to a screen.

The advantage of infrared over true “night vision” is that you can see through smoke and fog and don’t need a cloudless sky to get good identification on what’s out there waiting for you.

So if you just want the ability to identify possible intruders or predators on your property (both 4-legged and 2-legged) the Dark Force infrared NVDs are super cheap and they “get the job done”.

Plus… they can zoom in 10x and they have a slot for a memory card so you can record (with audio) anything that you’re seeing out there in the dark

(A good thing to have for recording and documenting who/what is where they shouldn’t be!)

Whichever level of gear you feel you need… this isn’t something I’d procrastinate on, Warrior.

Level up and feel confident that YOU now “own the night”!

Finally! Your Ability To "Own The Night" Just Became Affordable For The Everyday Protector...

Affordable Night Vision

When a crisis or collapse cuts off supplies to local citizens, being "prepared" makes you a target!

To defend your home, property, and loved ones, you need every advantage you can get - and that includes a way to detect and engage trespassers under cover of darkness who are looking to take your supplies by any means necessary.

Thanks to new technology, these "Dark Force" infrared binoculars are changing the game for the home defender - and at a cost that anyone can afford for such features as:

These are not night vision devices, they are infra-red, so they show pictures via heat signature, but do not amplify ambient light (which is what a night vision device actually does) – a bit misleading and knowing how IR works, I do not trust the photos and video that simulates the picture that you will see.

Jeff Anderson

Correct Chris… the Dark Force option is infra-red and doesn’t amplify the surrounding’s ambient light. There are pros and cons to both IR and true NVGs and it definitely helps to know what you’re getting. The first step is to identify “what” you need them for and then look at what your options are that will meet your needs at a budget you want to spend.

Not sure at that low of a price that it’s made in china. Double checked the advertisement and nothing, but the key thing is it doesn’t say made in the USA that most patriotic items would say. Sorry hard pass.

Jeff Anderson

Hard to find anything that’s not “made in China” Bob… which is what brings things into play for people who don’t want to spend a couple thousand dollars on gear they’ll likely not use. I hear you though… you just have to be prepared to spend a lot more. Plus, there are cheap, worthless items from China (and other manufacturing countries) and then there are quality goods as well. No matter what you choose (or where it comes from), be sure to check the quality and reviews so you’re making an educated decision.

I have 2 friends which have already purchased from MCG. They both said it is a piece of junk. One of the friends used it for a target, it was that bad

I own a set of the MCG version as well as a pair of NVGs from NightFox. I wouldn’t say the MCG “Dark Force” set is “target worthy”. I mean, they’re not going to be the same quality as something you’d pay a couple hundred bucks for… but they do get the job done for identifying intruders and other things at night, which is what most people would use them for in a shelter-in-place scenario so for the budget-minded, I do think they’re a great option to at least have this capability.

Ryan

Stick to selling your own products which are great, rather than this Temu garbage.

Jeff Anderson

Thanks for the nod to our products Ryan… and I agree that there are definitely options out there that look, feel, and operate on a far lower level than the gear we had in the military. For me, I look for “function” first and foremost and NODs aren’t something a lot of people will use very regularly. In a pinch, a “cheap” pair will get the job done without breaking the bank so people can put their hard-earned moolah into better quality gear they’ll be more likely to use. I’ve updated the post to give more options though, so thank’s for the comment.

Deborah

Thank you Jeff, for everything you do I really appreciate it !!!
I own a pair of the MCG Dark force, I agree when I opened the box it did feel cheap.
However, I have bought expensive gear that felt cheap, I cannot go by that.
I do not need an expensive pair of night vision googles, that I will only use in a SHTF situation.
Therefore, I appreciate the bargain’s and discounts that Jeff recommend’s.
The money I save I can put towards more food and water. Win win

I need clarification. Both the Night Fox and Dark Force are IR. What’s the difference in the two aside from price? And is not the military grade IR, too? If not, what tech do they use?

Also, the cheaper, Dark Force, has 10X focus opposed to the 1X more expensive Night Fox? Is less, more? The ads are deceiving. This is why I ask.

I would expect to see some decent detail from any animal/man in my sights. Do either of these products do this? The complaints below give me pause.

Can you clarify. I’m a newbie to this technology. I intend to use it for camping, hiking, night driving (if possible and practical), and home security awareness. Possibly bow hunting…

Thanks

Janet

Can Canadians buy these? Seems like a good idea. Thanks!

Cliff Lancaste

I looked into these, but you have to join a subscription to get that price

I just double-checked and for the Dark Force IR set, you don’t have to have a subscription. But you do always have to look to see if any of these retailers have some kind of subscription service automatically “checked” on their order forms. I hate it when companies do that and I’ve been dinged more than a few times with this little trick… enough that I always look to make sure to uncheck any subscription boxes on order forms when I buy now. Thanks for the heads up!

X-BEAST

Actually they did ding me for the subscription but I just cancelled that part of the order.

X-BEAST

Cliff, I just completed my order and no subscription was required. Now they do try to get you to buy more stuff but just ignore it.

Randy J

Reas price, scan of vision TBA , ditto power, but deserves a look.
